Alexandra McCracken

hello@alexandramccracken.com
Hello! I am Alexandra, a Finnish graphic designer and artist, based in London, UK.

As a multidisciplinary designer, focusing on social design and design for good, my work mainly surrounds topics that embrace creativity, community, people coming together, wellbeing or celebrating the beauty and benefits of nature. My main ethos as a designer and artist, is to create positive social change and to bring happiness and beauty into everyday life.

With over a year of experience as a freelance designer in the festival industry, problem solving and working under high pressure in fast-paced environments has become my speciality. I work well in a team, as well as independently. To feed my creativeness, I like to expand my skills, venture into new areas and indulge in many DIY and self-initiated projects.

Säde: a workshop on embracing your inner creativity

As an artist, I believe in the importance of self-expression and creativity. I encourage everyone to explore and discover that part of themselves. Säde workshop is all about embracing your inner creativity and setting your mind free. Whether you consider yourself a creative individual or not, everyone has creative qualities. Like any other skill, creativity can be practised and learnt, and this is what the workshop is all about – finding that inner creativeness and expressing it.

PLEI festival

PLEI is a weekend festival full of surprises, play, workshops and music. The festival believes in embracing playfulness, creativity, the importance of play and people coming together.

The colourful and playful branding alongside with the unique handwritten type, shows the fun side of PLEI and represents the freedom, flexibility and creativity of the festival.

Rebranding Freecycle

“The Freecycle Network® is made up of 5,000+ groups with over 9 million members across the globe. It’s a grassroot and entirely non-profit movement of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own towns and keeping good stuff out of landfills.”

For one of my final year projects, I rebranded Freecycle. I believe Freecycle is a great platform that deserves a better branding. The rebrand for Freecycle is welcoming, bright and confident. The main goals of the rebrand was to give them a up to date look, update their website and app and to allow the community to take a part of the branding with the all-inclusive handwriting as the secondary type. The type allows all the volunteers around the world to take part and promote Freecycle, with their DIY posters and ads.
